Questioning Salvation

This morning on KWAVE, Pastor Greg talked about the temptations of the devil. He explained, the most widespread Satanic temptation of Christians is doubting salvation shortly after accepting Jesus into their hearts (through the twenty second salvation prayer).

But is it at all possible, there are some other reasons for that doubting? Do we really need to invoke the Prince of Darkness?

Hypothetically, let's say I draw a pentagram on the floor and offer up some incantations with the objective of supercharging my soul with the powers of Kthulu. I put on some heavy metal, light some candles, and conjur up whatever other effects I can to really freak myself out. By the time the session of unadulterated evil ends, I feel really, really creepy, and believe I have succeeded to communicate with the Old Ones. The next day rolls around and what do you know, the sun is shining, the mail comes late, and people everywhere just seem so wrapped up in normality. I might question the belief I had the night before that me and Kthulu have a close, personal relationship, and that I can have deep, meaningful conversations with him that are more tangible than those I have with my nieghbor Jim accross the street.

On KWAVE, public confession is encouraged. Although, they acknowledge one can be saved anytime, anywhere. The scriptoral grounds for public confession can be found in Romans 10. However, it's pretty obvious, that to increase the chances of a mystical feeling that has a hope of giving the recipient of Jesus the most important twenty seconds of their life, it would help to be saved in the proper cultivating environment. Such as a big, loud church loaded with glassy eyed fanatics.
